From September 4 to 30, the Biennial of Visual Arts SubDokumenta Sarajevo 2025 will take place at the Sarajevo galleries Charlama Depot and Collegium Artisticum. This event represents a historical continuity of the iconic biennial “YU Dokumenta” from the 1980s, as well as over two decades of activity by the Charlama Depot gallery, as stated in the official announcement.

SubDokumenta Sarajevo 2025 will present works by more than 90 renowned and established artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and around the world. The curator of the biennial is visual artist Jusuf Hadžifejzović, who, in collaboration with art historians and critics, has selected artists who were active during the time of YU Dokumenta, as well as representatives of new artistic forces and emerging trends on the regional and international scene.

The program is divided into several segments: Official Selection, Video Labyrinth, Time Machine: From YU Dokumenta to SubDokumenta, along with a series of special and accompanying programs. As part of the biennial, four contemporary art galleries will also be presented: Manifesto (Sarajevo), Vagon (Banja Luka), OK Gallery (Rijeka), and B2 (Belgrade). A special segment includes panels dedicated to the historical continuity of the biennial, as well as recent artistic tendencies in the field of contemporary and visual arts.
