Danica Dakic
Born in Sarajevo, where she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. She continued her studies in Belgrade and Düsseldorf. In her video, sound, photographic, and film works, she explores concepts of cultural memory, language, and history. She has exhibited in numerous shows in Bosnia and Herzegovina and internationally, including Documenta 12, the Istanbul Biennial, the São Paulo Biennial, Biennale of Sydney, and others. Her solo exhibitions have been presented at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Generali Foundation (Vienna), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Zagreb), the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles), and the Museum für Moderne Kunst (Frankfurt). Her works are included in many collections, among them Tate Modern (London), Centre Pompidou (Paris), Bauhaus-Museum Weimar and the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2019, she represented the Pavilion of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 58th Venice Biennale.
