Gjorgje Jovanovik's
Gjorgje Jovanovik (Skopje, 1980) is a Macedonian visual artist working in the fields of performance, installation, video, collage, and socially engaged art. He graduated in 2003 from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje.
His work explores social transformations, the relationship between the individual and the community, and the consequences of transition in post-socialist societies. His artistic practice often incorporates humor, irony, and participatory methods as a means of examining contemporary political and social processes.
He has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe and the United States, including projects in New York, Paris, Vienna, Graz, and Istanbul. He is the recipient of the Denes Young Visual Artist Award (2009) and several international recognitions for contemporary art. He lives and works in Skopje.
