Hamazalija Muhić

Hamzalija Muhić (Sokolac, 1960) is a Bosnian painter and educator. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1987. For more than three decades, he has been an active presence on the art scene of Bosnia and Herzegovina, exhibiting continuously from the wartime period to the present day. His solo exhibitions have featured cycles such as Sedimentation and Dissolution, Wasteland, Melancholy, As Evening Descends and Falls Across the Sky, and others.

Muhić is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the prestigious Grand Prix Collegium Artisticum in 2009. His painting is characterized by a reduced visual language, a strong atmospheric quality, and an exploration of the relationships between light, space, and inner states of being. Alongside his artistic practice, he has worked for many years as a professor of fine arts in Sarajevo.
