OPA/ Slobodanka Stevceska & Denis Saraginovski
OPA – Obsessive Possessive Aggression is an art platform founded in 2001 in Skopje, North Macedonia, by artists Slobodanka Stevčevska and Denis Saraginovski. Operating at the intersection of contemporary art, performance, new media, and social activism, OPA develops projects that critically examine the relationships between art, politics, institutions, and everyday life.
Their artistic practice is based on the exploration of social and political mechanisms of power through public interventions, participatory projects, performances, installations, and media actions. Employing irony, humor, and critical strategies, OPA addresses issues of identity, nationalism, bureaucracy, cultural policies, and contemporary forms of social control.
OPA’s work has been presented in numerous international exhibitions, festivals, and biennials across Europe and beyond, including projects in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Croatia, Estonia, and the United States. Their practice is widely recognized as one of the most significant examples of socially engaged and critically oriented contemporary art in Southeast Europe.
By continuously linking artistic practice with social action, OPA develops projects that blur the boundaries between art and reality, creating spaces for dialogue, critical reflection, and active public participation in contemporary social processes.
