Vinko Barić

Vinko Barić (born in 1980 in Split, Croatia) is a visual artist, painter, comic book author, musician, and publisher. He graduated from the Arts Academy in Split, and his multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, comics, illustration, performance, and music. Throughout his career, he has developed a distinctive artistic language shaped by the intersection of popular culture, underground aesthetics, punk sensibility, and social satire.

He is particularly known for his comic book work and the project Lavanderman, one of the most recognizable independent comic book characters in contemporary Croatian culture. His works often combine humor, irony, and critical observations of everyday life, blurring the boundaries between high art and popular culture.

Barić has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, while also being actively involved in a variety of artistic, musical, and publishing projects. In addition to his visual art practice, he is the author of publications dedicated to the history of punk and new wave music in the former Yugoslavia, documenting and exploring the region’s alternative cultural heritage.

Through an interdisciplinary practice that brings together painting, comics, music, and social engagement, Vinko Barić has created an original artistic universe in which humor, critique, and the legacy of independent culture intersect.
